Rosemary Hoard

Rosemary “Rosey” Christine Hoard slipped gently from this life on Monday, April 15, 2024.

Rosey was born January 7, 1953 to Clyde and Margie Lee in Selma, Alabama.  She met and married Butch Hoard and together they raised two children, Spencer (affectionately known as “Scooter”) and Kelly. She was ambidextrous in life and spirit. She had the ability to multitask her way through life’s obstacles. She worked for JCPenney as Human Resource Manager leaving in 1999 to go to Lowes as the Cash Office Administrator to work her magic. 

She was an avid reader and frequent patron of Hobby Lobby. She enjoyed making jewelry and wearing it as well. She was loving and kind and could say so much with just a look. She was a friend to many and loved so much.

In August of 2014 she would face one of the largest storms of her life, the death of her son Spencer. In September of 2017, Butch suffered a stroke and again, she rose to the need. She looked forward to her lunch and shopping dates with Kelly, and monthly Girls Night Out with her Lowes family and beloved granddaughter, Madelyn, whom she affectionately called “Maddy”.

In addition to her parents and her son, she was preceded in death by her in-laws, Charles Odom, Sr. and Gloria Etheridge Odom; sister Wanda Denise Lee; sisters-in-law, Donna Miller and Barbara Hoard; brothers-in-law, Robert Hoard and Danny Haynes.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Claude “Butch” Hoard; a loving daughter, Kelly Hoard Carter and her husband Rickey; step-daughter, Stacey Hoard White; daughter in law, Crystal Hacker; a brother, Scott Timothy Lee; brothers and sisters-in-law, Rusty and Cheryl Hoard, Charles and Tracy Hoard, Russell Miller, Joy Haynes, Charles Odom Jr.; and numerous nieces, nephews and special friends. She loved being a Gran and leaves many memories to cherish her grandchildren, Landyn Hoard, Madelyn Carter, Braedyn Hoard, Wyatt Carter and Caden White; and great grandson Weston Hoard.

The visitation will be Saturday, April 20, 2024 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 11:00am -12noon. The funeral will follow in the chapel at noon with Rev. Derrick Killingsworth officiating. She will be interred by Spencer at a private burial.
