Walter Lewis Boykin Jr. passed away on Tuesday April 9, 2024 in Mobile, AL at the age of 73.
Walter was born on July 11, 1950 in Meridian, MS to Walter L. Boykin Sr and Mary McIlwain Boykin. He served in the United States Army and was the recipient of two purple hearts. He worked as an electrician with Ingalls Shipbuilding for 30 years. After retirement he was able to enjoy his hobbies of golf, serving as course Marshall of Whispering Pines, and working on his 31 Chevy, red with ghost flames, and cruising the coast. He especially loved attending his grandchildren’s many sports events.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Alvin Boykin and a sister, Virginia Sanderson.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Myrna Boykin of Grand Bay, AL; a son, Jason Gerald Boykin of Pace, FL; a daughter, Melissa Bond of Grand Bay, AL; five grandchildren, Aza Boykin, Carson Boykin, Seadon Boykin, Corbin Bond, and Spencer Boykin and a great-grandchild soon to be born.
Visitation will be 9am-10am on Monday April 22, 2024 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, Ms. The funeral Will follow in the chapel at 10am with Pastor Jonathan Greer officiating.
