Earlene Caraway Harwell Young slipped gently into the arms of the angels Tuesday, September 25, 2018.

Earlene was born March 30, 1938 in Hickory, MS to James and Macie Caraway. She met and married Jesse Harwell, and they moved to the Gulf Coast in 1957. The Lord blessed them with one son Steve. Earlene worked at Brumfield's for many years followed by many years for various health care professionals, and at Singing River Hospital as a clerk for 14 years before retiring in 2004. She was a charter member of Arlington Heights Baptist Church which was founded in 1963 and now known as, Arlington Baptist Church. After Jesse's death she married Charles Young, they enjoyed several years together before Alzheimer's slowly took its toll on her mind and body. She was a lovely, giving and caring lady and will be greatly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jesse B. Harwell in 2000 and eight siblings, Demar, Ed, Edna, Jeff, Nate, Mason, Brian, and Hardy.

Earlene is survived by her husband, Charles E. Young of Pascagoula and her son, Steve Harwell and his wife Barbara of Douglasville, GA; step children, David Young of Columbia, S.C. and Kathleen Sumrall and her husband David of Mobile, AL: and one step grandson, Michael Sumrall, and her Arlington Baptist Church family.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Arlington Baptist Church in Pascagoula from 9:00-10:30 with funeral service beginning at 10:30 Interment will follow at Serene Memorial Gardens in Escatawpa, MS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations in her memory to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
