Frieda Cowan Obituary

Mrs. Frieda L. Stafford Cowan, age 92 of Huntsville, AL passed away Sunday, August 4, 2019.  Born October 12, 1926 in Mobile, AL to the late James Arthur and Frieda Haustein Stafford, she was a former longtime resident of Pascagoula, MS.  On March 27, 1954, she married the love of her life, George Bell Cowan.  He proceeded her in death in 1990.

While in Pascagoula, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church.  Mrs. Cowan moved to Huntsville, AL following Hurricane Katrina to be near family. She began a new life and made many wonderful friends over her years there.  She will be missed by all who knew her.

Among those left to cherish her memories are her daughter Beverly Cowan Burke, of Huntsville, AL; her son Glen A. Cowan, of Gautier, MS.  She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren; Lauren Stanton and Alison Burke of Huntsville, AL, and David Stanton (Leah) of Vestavia Hills, AL.  Also two special nieces, Barbara Hatten Smith and Linda Hatten Hutchinson.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Pascagoula with Reverend Dennis Ray Smith officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church.  Interment will take place at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.  Those unable to attend may sign online at www.obryantokeefe.com
