Sylvia Cowles Hutchison

Sylvia Cowles Hutchison, 74, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend passed away peacefully at her home on January 1, 2020 surrounded by family.

She was preceded in death by her parents William F. and Doris Howard Cowles and a sister, Shirley Cowles Powell.

She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years , Robert H. Hutchison; three daughters, Dana (Jon) Miller, DeAnna ( Stacey)Doggett and Dixie J. Nall; nine grandchildren, Bradley Ladnier, Ashleigh Ladnier, Jeremy Ladnier, Charis Miller, JoLeigh Cumbest, Kaelee Cumbest, Skylar Cumbest, Travis Nall and Krista Nall; eleven great-grandchildren and many nephews , nieces, cousins and friends.

Sylvia retired from Singing River Hospital after 34 years of service, first as a Candy Striper, then as an L.P.N.  and lastly as a Registered Nurse. Sylvia passed on her passion for health care to her three daughters all of which are in the health care profession. Sylvia’s faith in God and capacity to love was extraordinary. To know her was to love her. She touched the hearts of all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Visitation will be Sunday January 5, 2020 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will be Monday at 2pm in the funeral home chapel with Father Mike Kelleher officiating. Interment will conclude at Serene Memorial Gardens.
