Mr. Walter Lee Dixon Jr. age 83 of Pascagoula passed away Wednesday, January 9, 2019 in Mobile, AL. Born December 31, 1935 in Barlow, MS, to the late Walter L. and Leona M. Willis Dixon, he had been a longtime resident of Pascagoula. He was a graduate of Pascagoula High School, class of 1956. Mr. Dixon was a machinist by trade, he worked for Continental Can Company in Pascagoula for over 20 years before retiring in 1977. Mr. Dixon was a proud man who had a stubborn streak. He enjoyed playing golf, loved animals especially his dogs, he always enjoyed an occasional trip to the casinos or Mobile Grayhound Park. He attended First Baptist Church of Pascagoula and will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by seven siblings Charles Scott, Darley Scott, Swannie Lee McDevitt, Maurine Maddox, Church “Dick” Dixon, Jeanette Hampshire and Elmer Hedegaard.
Among his survivors are two sons Walter Lee Dixon III and his wife Jennifer of Pascagoula, MS, David Dixon and his wife Debbie of Vancleave, MS; two daughters Rhonda Fryer and her husband Johnny of Ocean Springs, MS, Barbara Capalbo and her husband Marty of Ocean Springs, MS; seven grandchildren Matthew Capalbo, Isabella Capalbo, Christopher Dixon, Emily Dixon, Warren Dixon, Hannah Dixon and Jorja Dixon; three great-grandchildren Emerson Capalbo, Sheherd Dixon and Edmund Dixon.
Services for Mr. Dixon will begin with visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Friday, January 18, 2019 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 PM from the chapel. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Chris Crawford, Greg Husley, Spencer Bailey, Yank Sharlow, Lee Hedegaard, Robert Reindeau, Steve Jordan and Ovide Davis.
