William Howard Griffin, age 77, of Gautier passed away on Friday, Nov. 1, 2019. He was born September 23, 1942 in Yazoo County, MS and has been a longtime resident of Gautier. William served in the United States National Guard from 1960- 1966. He was employed at Local 119 Union in Mobile, Alabama as Pipefitter-Welder from 1972-2005. William was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Gautier and enjoyed gardening, pecan trees, fishing, and hunting.
He is preceded in death by infant son and daughter, William Howard Griffin Jr and Angela Renea Griffin; parents, Ova M. Griffin, Sr. and Sallie S. Griffin; four brothers, Ova, Willard Otto, and Dolphus and Woodrow Griffin; sister, Mattie Mae Hodges.
William is survived by his devoted wife of 55 yrs. , JoAnn Jones Griffin, Gautier; three sons, Stephen Craig Griffin, Cheyenne, WY; Darrin Bruce Griffin, Orlando, FL (Shari); Douglas Scott Griffin (Kelly), Headland, AL; sister, Christine Griffin, Houston, TX; three brothers, Lowry Griffin, De Funiak Springs, FL; Aubrey Griffin, Long Beach, MS; Elwood Griffin, Amarillo, TX; grandchildren, Shelbea, Brandon, Brianna, Kora, Eliot, Reagan, and Avery Griffin; Ryan Stokes and Paige Howell.
Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 4, 2019 12:30-2:00pm at First Baptist Church in Gautier. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00pm with Rev. David Aultman officiating. Interment will be behind the church at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier. Active Pallbearers will be Mike Foster, Paul Stauter, Walter Greene, Dale Lee, Colton Colette, and Gary Griffin. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his church, First Baptist Church in Gautier and Southern Hearts Hospice. Family would like to express their appreciation to Southern Hearts Hospice and Ocean Springs Health and Rehabilitation for all the love and care given to William and the family.
