GySgt Aaron Robert Cleveland
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we honor the life of GySgt Aaron Robert Cleveland, a man of unwavering integrity, strength, and kindness. Born on June 3, 1966, Aaron departed this life peacefully on June 23, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of service, education, and love that will forever be cherished.
He was the beloved son of the late Frank and Anna Cleveland. Survived by his wife of 21 years, Rachel Ann; his children, Savanna Lynn West (James), Haley Anniece Wingard, and Aaron Robert Cleveland Jr.; his brother, Frankie Ray Cleveland; and grandchildren, Mackenzie, Jackson, and Oakley, whom he adored.
The son of a sailor, Aaron grew up traveling the country with his family until they settled in Paw Paw, Michigan, where he graduated high school. Aaron bravely enlisted in the Army Rangers in 1984 serving four dedicated years before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1991. Over the next 16 years, he served with honor and distinction. His dedication was further exemplified by the top-secret SCI security clearance he held, reflecting the utmost trust placed in him.
After retiring from the Marine Corps in 2007, Aaron continued his mission of service through education. He worked as an avionics instructor at Florida State College at Jacksonville, a technology instructor at Pensacola State College, and as an instrumentation and controls instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. His dedication to his students and colleagues reflected his deep love for learning and teaching.
Throughout his illustrious career, Aaron received numerous awards and accommodations. In 2020, he was honored as Educator of the Year by ETA International, recognizing his passion for inspiring others and sharing his extensive knowledge.
A man of intellect and curiosity, Aaron earned a B.A. in Philosophy from Excelsior College and a Master’s in Aeronautical Science from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. His passion for aviation, philosophy, and lifelong learning illuminated everything he pursued.
Aaron was a beloved father, husband, brother, and grandfather. His kindness, resilience, and love for his family knew no bounds. He touched everyone he met with his genuine warmth and unwavering integrity. His legacy is one of service, education, and the profound impact he made on those around him.
Though he has departed from this earthly life, his spirit, kindness, and legacy will forever remain in our hearts
