Alice Murray Obituary

Alice Price Murray was born May 22,1918 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi to Robert Turnball Price, Jr. And Zoe Carleton Price. She died January 16, 2021 at her home in Pascagoula, Mississippi. She leaves gifts of a tremendous legacy and of many fond memories which will forever be cherished. She graduated from Hattiesburg High School and received her B. S. Degree in Home Economics from the University of Southern Mississippi. She was active in her church and community in organizational and in leadership roles. This continued throughout her life, staying active until near the end.

Going before her was her beloved husband of 59 years, James Dean Murray Sr. of Camp Hill, Alabama. Also preceding her were siblings Robert Eugene Price, Cornelia Price Breckenridge, Olive Lindsay Price Wentworth, Maston Reese Price, Eleanor Jessie Price Halbert, Susan Carleton Price Johnson, Dorothy Louise Price Leavitt.

Left to cherish her memory also are her three children, James Dean Murray,Jr. (Martha) of Pascagoula, Eleanor Jane Murray McIlwain (Barry) of Pascagoula, Dr. Robert Michael Murray ( Farrar) of Birmingham, AL, and grandchildren Callie Murray Randle( Seth), Alice Kate McIlwain Berry (Will), Dean Murray(Brittany), Lauren Murray Henry(Denson), Michael Murray, Julius McIlwain, Jr., and Zachary Murray. Great grandchildren include Olivia and Rhodes Randle, Folsom and Price Berry, Ruby Kate, Nixon, Sunny, Coleman Murray, Chloe Zelenka, and Jane and Teddy Henry. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews she loved dearly. An avid Auburn football fan, queen of the straight faced one-liners, and with a deep love for her family,

Alice Price Murray left quite the impression on all who knew her. Also known as Mimi to so many, she passed away Saturday morning at her home at the young age of 102 years old. Even until the end, she lived by herself, kept the family and caregivers on their toes, and never lost her keen spirit and dry humor. Alice Price Murray lived an amazing and eventful long life, and her strong and independent legacy will live on for generations to come.
