Ann Fulmer White Obituary

Vera Ann White of Pascagoula, MS passed away, Wednesday November 20, 2024 at the age of 84.

Ann was born on October 17, 1940, Clarksdale, MS to John Clyde and Ida Vera Fulmer, the oldest of nine children. She married the love of her life Fred A. White Sr. together they had two children Fred Alvin and Mary Ann. In early years she and her daddy sold cane syrup at the festivals and fairs, traveling with family making memories and having fun. Ann Always had a smile and hug to share. She loved “BIG” it didn’t matter if, you were a brother, child, grandchild, 1st cousin or 4th, you were loved and you knew it.

Ann Served as Tax Collector for Jackson County, a position she was dedicated to, until her retirement after 40 years of service. She became an ordained minister with the United Pentecostal Church International in February of 1997. Her passion for ministry began long before that. In 1968 she became a member of Pascagoula United Pentecostal Church now known as The Sanctuary, She sang in the choir for many years, working visitation on Saturdays and driving the church bus on Sunday’s.  She and Fred left Pascagoula to help with a new work in Vancleave. She served as the secretary and treasurer, played the organ and taught Sunday School and was a founding member of United Pentecostal Church of  Vancleave.  After her retirement she and her siblings enjoyed visiting and singing at other churches she also volunteered for many years as a pink lady at Singing River Hospital.

It is said that Ann died of a broken heart. After losing her soul mate and confidant in June, she struggled to find her place, without him by her side. She was so loved and we were so blessed.  We are thankful for her smile, her service to family and community and her witness to all she met.

In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by a son, Fred Alvin White Jr.; brothers, Joe and Ronnie Fulmer.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Ann Fontenot; siblings, Don Fulmer, Jen Fulmer (Jeanette), Cynthia Cooley (Jack), Kelly Ray Fulmer (Nan), Judy Jones (Danny) and Sister-in-law, Tootie; five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
