Anna Raley Obituary

Anna Margaret Raley, 92, of Pascagoula, MS passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on April 13, 2023, in Ocean Springs.  She was born in Pascagoula on March 15, 1931, to Andrew S. and Myra Hood.

Anna Margaret and her husband Charles F. Raley Sr. were longtime residents of Pascagoula where they raised their large family. She was a very caring, supportive and loving mother and wife.  She lived a full and active life raising her family and working for the Pascagoula Recreation Center and McGregor Furniture.

She was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Sacred Heart Church in Pascagoula where she sang in the choir. Her deep faith provided comfort and strength during both happy and trying times. Her family has many fond memories including volunteering in the Church booth at the County Fair and countless hours supporting and cheering on her children in the many activities they participated in.

Her hobbies included sewing, crocheting and knitting as well as being a superb gardener. She also loved cooking, while always putting love in her meals. Some of her special dishes were seafood gumbo, red beans and rice and of course her famous dressing at Thanksgiving! Her recipes will continue to flourish with her family!

Mrs. Raley was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years Charles F. Raley, Sr., her daughter Cheryl Ann, her son Charles, Jr., her brother James (Buddy) Williams and two sisters, Ruth Williams Rouse and Alda (Tootsie) McDaniel.

She is survived by her seven children, Cynthia K. Anderson (Michael), Hattiesburg; James S. Raley, Lake Charles, LA; L. Rene’ Caldwell, Ocean Springs; Joseph G. Raley (Marilyn) Sarasota, FL; Michael A. Raley (Aleta), Pascagoula; Michelle Hansen (Jeff), Holly Lake Ranch, TX, and M. Eric Raley, Pascagoula, her brother, Andrew S. Hood, Jr., Grand Bay, AL, her sister Nettie Louise Crabtree (Chris), Pascagoula, along with eighteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

Mrs. Raley will be reunited in heaven with her first-born baby daughter Cheryl, her son Charles, and her loving husband, Charles Sr.
