Augustus Miller Power III passed away on Friday January 10, 2025 at Singing River
Hospital in Pascagoula.
Miller was born in Fort Jackson, South Carolina on September 24th, 1951, and was a
long time resident of Pascagoula, Mississippi. He graduated from Pascagoula High School in
Pascagoula, Mississippi in 1970 and University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg,
Mississippi with a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering. He worked at Morton Thiokol for
around 25 years as an engineer and worked at Huntington Ingalls as an engineer for 22 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Augustus Miller Power Jr. and Ann Elizabeth
Power of Pascagoula; and sister, Jean Ann Power (sister) of Pascagoula.
Survivors are wife, Metta Charlene Power of Pascagoula, Mississippi; sons Augustus
(Amp) Miller Power IV (Anna Beth) and Andrew Gerald Power; daughter Ashley Nicole Clark
(John) all of Pascagoula, Mississippi; brother Charles Ervin Power (Patricia); Grandchildren
include Arabella Clark, John (Jack) Clark, Andrew (Andy) Power II, Isabella, Alivia, Madeline,
Augustus (Gus) Miller Power V; along with many nieces and nephews.
Miller was an avid golfer and fisherman. Miller, his son, and grandson all played on the
Pascagoula High School Golf team. Miller enjoyed his retirement traveling with his wife and
family to Cape San Blas, watching the sunset and eating oysters. Miller was a devoted husband,
father, grandfather, and friend to all leaving a legacy for all around him. He was not only a
loving partner, but also a best friend to Charlene Power of 51 years. His warmth and selflessness
will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Though his time with us was
far too short, the memories he created will remain in our hearts forever, serving as a testament to
the incredible person he was.
Per his request we will be having a scattering ceremony at a later date.
