Bette Pandora Rivers passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023 in Gautier, MS.
Pandora was born on January 7, 1938 to Norman and Eula Mae Rivers. She worked at Singing River Hospital for many years as a Registered Nurse and was a long-time member of OLV and more recently St Mary’s Catholic Church. She enjoyed researching and particularly, genealogy, which came in handy when writing reports for school. Education was important to her, she took each grandchild on a trip to Disney World when they graduated and made the family promise that when she got old they would do the same for the great grands.
She loved video games and was a Zelda expert, and even made notes on how to win. She loved spending time and a little money at the casinos so much so, her tag read “WANAWIN”. There was never a doubt she loved her family spoiling her grandchildren one weekend at a time. It seemed the light in her eyes dimmed after the death of her daughter in 2005. This devastation has now turned into joy as they are once again united.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Hette Pandora Scovel; grandson, Michael Vice, and a great grandson, Albert Henry Scovel IV.
She is survived by two sons; Hollis Vice (Shelly) of Pascagoula, MS and Norman P. Vice (Misa) of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Angela Ganas (Brannan), Therese Rogan (Kyle), Lisa Rodon (Michael), Kimberly Scovel (Zach), Albert Scovel III (Kimberly and Patrick Scovel (Alexis); great-grandchildren, Jude, Tyler, Caiden , Alexis, Harrison, Nicolas, Arianna, Albert Henry, and Walker and numerous other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St Mary’s Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at 11:00 am with Father Arockia Doss as celebrant. The visitation will be one hour prior to service. Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com.
