Beverly Purdy Walker, ag 89, of Pascagoula passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024. She was born January 4, 1935 in Pascagoula and has been a lifelong resident of this area. Beverly graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1953.
She worked for Uncle Jack’s snack bar at Pascagoula Junior High School and Thunder’s Package Store in Pascagoula. Beverly was a homemaker for most of her life and enjoyed playing cards- especially Bridge. She was a member of Bridge club and was known for her abilities to play well.
She enjoyed visiting casinos, shopping, painting, and watching football. Beverly was an avid football fan supporting New Orleans Saints and Ole Miss. What brought her the greatest joy was spending time with her two beautiful granddaughters that lovingly called her “GaGa”
She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Alvie S. Walker; daughter, Suzan R. Walker; parents, Gerald Robert Purdy and Ruth Gautier Purdy; sister- Doris Purdy Witchen; two brothers, Gerald “Jerry” Gilbert Purdy and Robert “Butch” Charles Purdy.
Beverly is survived by her daughter and two sons, Judy Walker Avery (Roger); Gregory Walker; and Kevin Walker (Michelle); two grandchildren, Maddison Ehlers and Meghan Holliday Honeycutt (Kris); great granddaughter, Kaylin Honeycutt; sister, Shirley Purdy Westphal.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2024, 10:00-11:00am, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Eugene Eubanks officiating. Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
Memorial may be made in her memory to St. Vincent De Paul. Special thanks to Janie Hickson and Staff at Sanctuary House for all their love and care they gave Moma during her time there. They were amazing. Also, want to thank the staff on two NW at Ocean Spring Hospital for their care during her stay.
