Bonnie Nations Obituary

Bonnie Nobles Nations went to her eternal home on January 30, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born in Mize, MS on September 2, 1943, to Vera and Reid Nobles. After twenty-nine years of service, Bonnie retired from Mississippi State University Extension Service. A longtime resident of Rankin County, MS, Bonnie moved to Jackson County, MS after the birth of her grandson, Cooper Nations Dunn.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved her children and grandchild more than anything and found immense happiness in every moment spent with them. Whether it was shopping all day, enjoying a meal out (she never met a cheesecake she didn’t like), or simply being together, she made every moment count.

She was an active member of Wade Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing hymns and reading God’s word with the ladies in her Sunday school class. Their friendships were a treasured part of her life. She especially looked forward to birthday lunches where laughter was always present. She also found great joy in sewing - dedicating her time and talents to making prayer quilts in the Quilting Ministry at church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she wanted others to feel God’s love in difficult times. In true Southern fashion, she loved baking and always believed in having a homemade cake or pie ready to share. You would never find a box dessert in her house.

She was the epitome of a Proverbs 31 woman. Her virtues were deeply rooted in her faith, which she modeled for her family so that they could face life’s uncertainties with grace and strength. Hardworking and selfless, she always put her family’s needs before her own. Her sacrifices and unwavering support were a testament to her love and dedication to her family. Those who know and love her will be forever grateful for her.

A special thank you to her caregiver, Ms. Anna Cooley. She treasured the friendship that developed between them the last couple of years. Their daily devotional time and cooking together meant so much to her.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents, Vera and Reid Nobles; her sisters, Mildred Nichols and Miriam Russell; the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Nations, and her beautiful granddaughter, Kylie Marlana Dunn.

Bonnie is survived by her sister, Betty Williamson (Jerry) of Kosciusko, MS; her son, Rob Nations of Flowood, MS; her daughter, Marla Dunn (Kelly) of Hurley, MS and her grandson, Cooper Dunn.

Pallbearers will be Kelly Dunn, Cooper Dunn (honorary), John Blackwell, Dan Edwards, Jeff Swilley, Jeffrey Fountain, and Jeff Williamson.
