Bradley Wayne Mathis Obituary

Bradley “Brad” Wayne Mathis, age 55, of Vancleave passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 14, 2025 from complications of Diabetes.   He spent his last day on Saturday doing exactly what he loved with his family and friends………. Fishing the whole day.

He was born on March 23, 1970 in Sullivan, Missouri as the last born of 5 children. He grew up in Gautier and graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1988. He was a member of the Church of Christ church in Pascagoula.  Brad was a former machinist from Ingalls Shipbuilding, Gulf Hydraulics in D’Iberville and a number of other businesses on the Gulf Coast.

He was a determined and strong-willed individual that enjoyed finding a way to fix things around the house, boats, vehicles, and helping others in a more affordable way.  He was lovingly known by his brothers and sisters as “Brat” and by his family members and friends as “Doogan”.  He will be missed and remembered as a guy with a big heart and given spirit to others.

Brad is preceded in death by his parents, Louis Mathis and Joann Brown Mathis; brother, Steve Mathis; nephew, Tony Foster.

He is survived by his two sisters and one brother, Regina Register (Stevie), Gautier; Diane Robinson (Dayle), Ocean Springs and Gary Mathis (Renee), Vancleave; nieces and nephews, Nicole McKnight (Chad), Ricky Register (Christy), Jessica Ladner (Josh), Daniel Robinson (Michelle), Dana McLain (Jeremy), Amy Mathis, Heather Savage (Ronnie), Dawn Taylor, Tim Manley (Donna); great nieces and nephews, Bobby, Serenity, Hunter, Stephen, Christopher, DJ, Chance, Jace, Sunny Rae, Roland, Eddie, Jessie Dayle, Logan, Tucker Louis, Maddy Jo, Hayden, Lowie, Christoper, Christian, Katie, Kayla, Mackenna, Trent, Cameron and Trever; great-great nieces and nephews, Naomi, Leo, Ollie, Iris, and Kensley.

Family will be having a private memorial gathering and he will be laid to rest by his parents at Register Cemetery in Gautier.
