Brenda "Joyce" Adair Horn

     Mrs. Brenda “Joyce” Adair Horn, age 76, of Grand Bay, AL, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at The Retreat, Hospice by  Saad, in Mobile, AL, surrounded by her beloved family.  She was born on November 8, 1948, in Tallassee, AL.  She had been a resident of Grand Bay since 1985.

     On August 23, 1985, she married the love of her life, Sanford Craig Horn.  He preceded her in death on June 18, 2013.  She was also preceded by two sons Bart Lane Thornton and James Christopher Thornton; her father John Daniel Adair; her mother Sadie Wilkerson Rowe; her stepfather Neil Rowe; and one brother Donnie Adair.

     Joyce was a phenomenal cook. It was her passion and love.  She learned to cook wonderful homemade meals from her mother, and after joining the Horn family, she mastered coastal dishes such as seafood gumbo and West Indies salad.  She was a great baker and perfected many desserts and cakes.  She and Sanford loved traveling in their motorhome & visiting campsites with their special friends.   Her greatest joy of all was spending time with her grandchildren and her great-granddaughter.

     Among those left to cherish Joyce’s memories are her sons Keith Thornton and his wife Tammy of Grand Bay, AL;  Craig Horn and his wife Lisa of Opelika, AL; and Tim Horn and his wife Sarah of Biloxi, MS; one brother Howard Rowe and his wife Suzanne of Phenix City, AL; one sister Sandra Greene and her husband David of Pascagoula, MS; one sister-in-law Donna Adair of Rainbow City, AL; her grandchildren Katherine Horn Harrison (Jeff), Jackson Horn (Abby), Winston Horn (Caroline), Regan Horn, John Thornton (Nicole), Harrison Horn and Virginia Horn; and one great-granddaughter, Evangeline Harrison.

     Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 18, 2025, at Eastside Assembly of God Church with her son Reverend Tim Horn officiating.  The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Grand Bay Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.  Arrangements are under the direction of O’Bryant- O’Keefe Funeral Home of Pascagoula.
