Carl E. Hilliard, Sr.

Mr. Carl Edward “Carl Ed” Hilliard passed away after a brief illness on March 21, 2020.  Carl Ed was a native son of Pascagoula, born May 9, 1931.  He lived his entire life here except for his time serving in the Coast Guard in the North Sea during the Korean War.  Carl Ed worked for some of the largest industries in the area, but loved his time spent as a commercial shrimper and fisherman.  At the age of 10, he started working the Gulf of Mexico with his father, Captain Dick and by 16 became captain of his own boats.  

Carl Ed was a member of Becky Bacot/Faith UMC and in his later years became a dedicated member of Eastlawn United Methodist Church where he served in roles from finance to usher to Trustee.  Carl Ed was a member of the Singing River Hospital Auxiliary for over 10 years.

Carl’s love of his life, Mary Ruth Hudson Hilliard, son Jeffrey Thomas Hilliard, and 5 siblings have preceded him in death.  He leaves two sisters, Eleanor Fuller and Mary Prendergast; two sons, Carl Edward Hilliard, Jr. (Wanda) and Larry Hudson Hilliard (Terry); 9 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren to cherish his memory.  

Due to the current pandemic, a private burial will take place with immediate family.  The Hilliard family is grateful for those who continue to offer prayers and condolences.
