Charles Jeter Obituary

Mr. Charles E. Jeter age 79 of Pascagoula, MS passed away at his residence surrounded by his loving family.  Born August 11, 1942, in DeFuniak Springs, FL, to the late John H. and Rosa Bundrick Jeter, he had been a resident of Pascagoula for over fifty years.  Mr. Jeter proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a longtime member of Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and received his 50-year pin and a member of the Joppa Shriner’s Temple.  Following his military service, on June 19, 1966, he married the love of his life Myrie Hendry.  He was a self-made man who enjoyed working with his hands. Charles was a generous and kind man who was always willing to help those in need, especially elderly, widows and animals.  Those who knew him rarely left a conversation without a good laugh. But, more than anything he was a family man.  He loved talking with his children and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  After a wonderful, full life, he retired at the age of 75 from Jackson County and the Rural Water Association as a water operator for the county and their rural water system. Mr. Jeter will be missed by all who knew him.

Left to cherish his memories are his beloved wife of over 55 years Myrie Hendry Jeter; two sons Charles R. Jeter and his wife Tara of Marion, TX, John H. Jeter and his wife Angela of Pascagoula, MS; one daughter Charla Milligan and her husband Dave of McKinney, TX; two brothers Woody Locke of GA, Robert Locke of Lady Lake, FL; two sisters Margaret Butler of Hattiesburg, MS, Eloise Duncan of Ludowici, GA; eight grandchildren Jeffrey and his wife Katie, Sierra, Amber, John Lewis., Nicholas, Ethan, Isaac, Joshua; two great-grandchildren Marlie and Jaxon.

A funeral service will be held at 12:30 PM Tuesday, Sept. 14, 2021, from Ingalls Avenue Baptist Church with Bro. John Turner officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:30 PM in Biloxi National Cemetery with military honors.  The family will receive friends at the church from 11:30 AM until the service.  Those who desire may make memorial contributions to Gideons International or Samaritan’s Purse.  Arrangements are under the direction of O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home of Pascagoula.
