Christa Michelle Smith

Christa M. (Penn) Smith, of Gautier, MS, passed away on April 10, 2024 after a short illness.  She was surrounded by her family.  Christa is a graduate of Jackson Academy and Belhaven College, both in Jackson, MS.

Christa was born to Richard M. Penn and Eleanor Sue (Stringer) Cottrell in May of 1972 in Pascagoula, MS.  She worked as a Financial Advisor for Mississippi Child Protective Services.  She loved spending time with family and friends, cooking, camping, and going to the beach.

Christa is preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her children, Robert C. Smith of Jackson, MS, Madison S. Smith of Pascagoula, MS, and Ella B. Smith of Gautier, MS, and here grandchildren, Corbin Lewis, Hollyn Smith, and Rylan Goff.  She is also survived by her sister, Stephanie Newman (Jack) of Gainesville, TX and step-mother, Sara Penn of Conroe, TX.
