Damon Delauren Howell, age 56, of Irvington, Alabama passed away on Monday, Dec. 16, 2024 after a brief illness of Esophageal Cancer at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula. He was born September 6, 1968 in Pascagoula. Damon graduated in 1986 from George County High School in Lucedale, Mississippi and received his Associates Degree in Pipefitting from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. He has been employed at Ingalls Shipbuilding since 1997 as a Designer 4.
Damon enjoyed listening to wide variety of music, reading fantasy and non-fiction books, watching many types of “Cheesy Movies”, visiting museums especially art, and spending time with his family and friends. He had a free spirit, easy going, and fun-loving personality that included marrying his wife on Halloween of 2002. He is preceded in death by his father, Gerry Howell.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Leighanne Ferguson Howell; Irvington, AL; mother, Linda McLendon Smith, Panama City, FL; two daughters and one son, Sarah Weller (Conner), Luton, England; Morgan Howell, Irvington, AL; Alexander Howell, Irvington, AL; sister, Shawnessey Brooks (Brian), Mobile, AL; brother, Brandt Howell (Lauren), Colorado; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
At Damon’s request, there will not be a public service held. The family will be having a private gathering.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society in his memory.
