David Creel Obituary

David G. Creel passed away June 8th, 2021 peacefully at home in Ocean Springs, MS from complications after a stroke. USMC, divorced, no children. He was born in the old Jackson County Hospital, but lived with his parents in Grand Bay, AL, later all moved to MS. He attended Charlotte Hyatt Elementary, Ed Mayo, and graduated in 1970 from Moss Point Central High School. As a boy, he was in Moss Point Troup 231, Boy Scouts, headed by Mr. Spruill. In high school, he had a nickname "karate Creel." David enjoyed his two cars, a 1968 GTO "Goat" and a 1969 red Corvette. He loved going to church and was a Christian, last attending Church of the Nazarene of Moss Point. He was voted as "King of Summer Camp" by "Church of Nazarene Youth" in 1965. He worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding while he attended MGCCC. He served his country in the US Marine Corps.

 

Preceding him in death by his parents: Curtis Creel and Gloria (Pendarvis) Creel; his sister: Annette (Creel) Woodcock Walker. 

 

His grandparents, Hardy H. Creel and Della Mae (Wiggins) Creel, and their children: Hardy (Opal Parks) Mae (Lex Todd), Lottie, Lolla, John, Esther (Creel) Felts, Harold (Sylvia) Creal, Iris (Creel) Robert Walker, Clayton, Alvin and Ruth (Creal) John Howell, all born in Mobile County, AL.

 

Also his g-grandfather Elijah Creel (son of Wesley Creel and Jer. Creel) and g-grandmother Vina (Dearman) Creel (Joe) Stapleton of Mobile County, AL and g-grandparents Christopher C. Wiggins and Martha (Owens) Wiggins. 

 

Grandfather Guy G. Pendarvis, (son of J.J. Pendarvis (b.FL) and Molly (Mary) Jones); grandmother Anna Mae (Schultz)  Pendarvis, all of Jackson County, MS; g-grandparents, Henry and Marie Kumpakiske Schultz of Moss Point, born in Russia. Great uncles: Henry Dees (Gessel) Schultz and Walter (Jeanette) Schultz; George Schultz of Chicago, from Russia. Nieces, Dr. Kara Creel and Cindy Kay Knippers; brother-in-law, David L. Kendrick; Uncle, Houston (Pete) Hudson (father of his cousins, Anna and Gary Hudson).

He is survived by his sibling:     Patricia (Creel) (David) Kendrick, Donald Paul (Sandra) Creel, Karen Bonin, John Curtis (Rita) Creel. Nieces and nephews: Julene Knippers (David) Irwin, Jason Creel, Morgan (Lesley) Creel, Alan (Leeann) Walker and Ian Walker. Great nieces and nephews: Jonathan, Deanna and Abby Irwin. Alan Curtis Walker. Lillie, Gage, and Raliel Creel. Joshua, Leeland, and Jordan Bonin. And his aunt, Anna Marie (Pendarvis) Hudson Rankin.

A graveside service will be held June 18, 2021 at 4:00pm in Union Cemetery, Moss Point,
