Dennis Glenn Thomas, age 65, of Hurley left this earth-bound life on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 to be in Heaven. Dennis graduated in 1977 from Pascagoula High School and was a part of the 1976 District and State Championship Football Team. He served on the Lafayette Jaycees Board of Directors in Lafayette, Louisiana and as a Pascagoula Youth Baseball Coach.
He worked at Ingalls Shipbuilding for 20 years as a Designer Engineer before medically retiring due to Multiple Sclerosis. Dennis was always the life of the party and affectionately know as “Big Daddy D” and the best friend you could ever have. He believed in God, love, happiness, kindest, fairness, courtesy, understanding, and promises kept. He fought the good fight but there was no more he could do. He will be missed and the world is a much lonelier place without him.
Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Darwin L. Thomas; father-in-law, Omar T. Chisholm; son-in-law, Jacob Duke.
He leaves behind his wife of 41 years, Lori Chisholm Thomas; son, Benjamin Thomas (Brooke), Ocean Springs; daughter, Denise Duke, Virginia; mother, Doris Thomas, Pascagoula; mother-in-law, Sherry Stewart, Hurley; two brothers, Danny Thomas and Dustin Thomas (Kathy); sister-in-law, Lisa Chisholm Quesada (Guillermo), Hurley; three grandchildren, Hayden Van, Elisha Van, and Abraham “Bram” Thomas; his faithful companion, Jack Jack.
Visitation will be Thursday, July 11, 2024, 4:00-5:00pm, at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Memorial Service will begin at 5:00pm in the funeral home chapel with his brother, Dustin Thomas, officiating.
The family is request in lieu of flowers, please make memorials in memory of Dennis to National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
