Donald Joseph Olsen peacefully passed away at home on March 9, 2023, at the age of 93. Donald was born on June 26, 1929 in Biloxi, MS, to the late John D. Olsen and Ida Camille Olsen. He worked for International Paper Company for 40 years.
Affectionately known as DO, Uncle Don or Pawpaw, his passions were cooking, catching white trout, shucking oysters and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was dearly loved by his nieces and nephews. He was well known for providing his friends and family with stuffed crabs for years. He was a long-time member of The Knights of Columbus and Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years Katherine Hillman Olsen. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.
His survivors include his sisters, Mary Olsen and Diane (Al) Higginbotham; his children: Carey (Dana) Olsen, Steve (Cecilia) Olsen, Johnny (Carol) Olsen and daughter Donna (Scott) Walker, and dear friends, Warren Loper and Jill Olsen. Also survived by grandchildren: Carey (Kelly) Olsen, Julie (James) Parker, DJ (Kim) Olsen, Brian Ward, Jennifer Ward, Johnny (Amy) Olsen, Jamie (Joe) Williams, Taylor Olsen and Madison (Pat) Rumley, Andrew (Mary Beth) Walker and Adam Walker; great-grandchildren: Alaina Olsen, Charlie Olsen, Finley Olsen, Hunter Williams, Walker Williams, Austin (Samantha) Ely, Haylee Parker, Abel Olsen, Wells Walker; numerous other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church in Pascagoula from 9:30am to 11:00am. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00am with Father Adam Urbaniac as Celebrant. Interment to follow at Machphelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
