Dorothy Goodwin Warner, age 99 of Gautier, MS, died February 9, 2025. She was born May 29, 1925 in Charleston, MS.
She was a member of Ingalls Management Association, serving on the steering committee to organize the association, later serving as association president and Mardi Gras Queen in 1975. A member of Krewe of Tri Cities Carnival Association, enjoying planning, decorating, fund raising for Carnival Balls and parades for many years and served in every office. She became Queen Jolliet 13 th. She was a member of the Singing River Sail and Power Squadron, a division of the United States Power Squadron, working on a Local, District and National Levels to promote safe boating. She was District 15 Conference Planning Committee Chairperson from 1945 until her retirement in 2009. In this capacity she handled all arrangements for the district Spring and Fall Conferences. She retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding March 31, 1994, as Manager of the MRO and site support sections of Procurement after serving 38 years of continuous service in the same department.
Mrs. Warner was a member of the Jackson County Bowling Association. Her bowling team “Coiffures by Kathryn” were Mississippi State Bowling Champions 2 years in a row. The organization was also affiliated with the Mardi Gras in which Mrs. Warner served as Jackson County Bowling Association Queen in the Ball and Parade.
Mrs. Warner is survived by her loving husband Stanley Warner of 76 years of marriage. Two nieces: Eleanor Jean Sells, Irvington, AL and Lynnette Childers (Vernon), Edgefield, SC and many grand nephews and nieces, and great great nephews and nieces.
She is preceded in death by her mother Cora Ann Branch Goodwin, her father Namon Oscar Goodwin, Brothers Thomas Hughlee Goodwin, Roy Goodwin, Edwin Goodwin. Sisters Annie Scallorn, Vivian Kathryn Ball, stepsister Nannie Mae Alford, niece Patricia Ball Byars; and great niece Alisha (Osborn) Groshog.
Funeral Service for Mrs. Warner will be Thursday, February 13, 2025 at O’Bryant – O’Keefe Funeral Home starting at 12:00 PM with visitation 30 minutes prior. Internment will conclude at Jackson County Memorial Park. Her great nephew Calvin Childers will officiate the services.
