Earl Stanley Weaver, age 96, passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at The Retreat, Hospice by Saads, in Mobile, AL. Family was able to be by his side during his last days, following a sudden and unexpected medical emergency earlier in the week. He was known to be fiercely independent prior to this event and could be described as determined, strong-willed, intelligent, fun, and loving.
Earl Stanley Weaver was born on June 21, 1928 in Runnelstown, MS, a small town near Hattiesburg, MS. He married Nelda Rae Sanford on September 10, 1955 in Hattiesburg, MS, where they later had two daughters, Deborah Ann Weaver and Mae Delane Weaver. They moved to Pascagoula, MS, around 1964, while Stanley was completing an apprenticeship program to become a Machinist at Ingalls Shipbuilding. Stanley retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding around the age of 62 and, later in life, became known by family, friends and neighbors as a handyman, who could fix anything. He loved to work on old appliances and electronics, in the hopes he could resell the item. If he wasn’t sure about how to repair something, he would dismantle and rebuild it, in order to learn how to fix it. He always had a story to tell, loved fishing in his younger years, and enjoyed time spent with his family.
Stanley was survived by his daughters, Deborah “Debbie” Ann Holman and Mae Delane “Dee Dee” Paine; son-in-law, James Paine; grandchildren, Christopher Michael Holman, Jessica Holman Gomez (David), Margaret “Maggie” Paine Alford (Joshua), and Brandy Paine Hebert (Austin); and great grandchildren, Michael Steele Holman, Damon Christopher Holman, Laila Gomez, Luke Gomez, Logan Alford, Tucker Alford, Maxwell Alford, Zander Alford, and Emberly Hebert; brother-in-law, Jerry Sanford; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susie Fleming Weaver and Nathan C. Weaver; wife, Nelda Rae Weaver; brother, Sheldon Weaver; son-in-law, Michael Holman; brother-in-law, Freddie Styron, and sister-in-laws, Theresa Weaver, Francis Styron, Priscilla Sanford, and Theda Nix.
Visitation will be Friday, May 2, 2025, 1:00-2:00pm at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Procession to the graveside service will leave the funeral home at 2:00pm to Machpelah Cemetery for entombment. Pallbearers will be James Paine, Chris Holman, Josh Alford, Austin Hebert, Jerry Ellis Styron, and Matt Stone. You may send condolences to the family or share a memory of him on the Tribute Wall.
