Ellen Maye Poe Tillman

Ellen Maye Tillman, age 89, passed away April 25, 2022, with family at her side. Ellen was born September 11, 1932, in Keighley, Kansas.

Ellen retired in 1989 after a career as a DA civilian employee. Her last job was Property Administrator at Twin Cities Army Ammunition Plant in Minnesota. Prior to that she worked as a secretary. Following retirement, she continued to work part time and managed a home. She was the caregiver to her husband and her adorable little dog Peppe.

Ellen enjoyed working in her yard, crocheting, and reading. She loved to play bingo and enjoyed going to the casinos. We have so many happy memories playing dominoes and cards with her and family.

She is preceded in death by her father and mother, Otis and Gladys Poe; her brothers, Robert C. Poe, William J. Poe, and Dannie D. Poe; her sisters, Amy Poe and Bonnie L. Garrison.

She is survived by a loving son, George D. Tillman III (Pamela Tillman) of Mobile, AL; sisters Helen F. Johnson of Cooperstown, N.D.; Linda L. Carter of Sonora, CA; sister-in-law Peggy Rockwell of Ocean Springs, MS along with numerous relatives.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life on Friday, April 29, 2022, from 6:00-7:00pm with a Memorial Service to begin at 7:00pm at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home's Chapel. You may send condolences to her family or share a memory on the Tribute Wall.
