Floyce Mae Scroggins Brown, 86, resident of Gautier, MS, passed away on May 30, 2025. She was born in Yazoo County, MS, on January 7th, 1939. She was preceded in death by her parents, Foy Scroggins Sr., and Nellie Mae Waaser Scroggins Steen, her brother, Foy Scroggins Jr., baby sister, Priscilla Gale Scroggins, and her husband of 64 years, Albert Gary Brown.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her five children, Thomas Gary Brown, Rena Baker (Gene), Amanda Walker (Phillip), Mary Louks (Ron), and Oatis Wilfred Brown III (Rusty); ten grandchildren, Lisa Bell (John), Mit Cole (Amber), Ashley Yoos (Phil), Andrew Cole (Casey), Charlie Torjusen (Rachelle), Josh Baker, Wil Brown, Riley Brown (Juan), Anna Grace Brown, and Faith Brown; and six great-grandchildren.
Floyce was a homemaker for many years before going to work when her youngest child started school. Her work career included working as a secretary for Mississippi Chemical and Pascagoula Sheet Metal. She was a talented seamstress and also enjoyed crocheting. Floyce loved cooking and trying new recipes and was well known by family and friends to be a wonderful gourmet cook.
The family extends special thanks to the staff of Truewood by Merrill of Ocean Springs (Assisted Living) and Singing River Hospice of Light and is most appreciative for the wonderful, loving care provided by the staff of both of these facilities to our mother and grandmother.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Gautier O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home from 6-7pm with service to follow in the chapel at 7pm. Graveside Service will conclude at Terry City Cemetery on Thursday, June 5,2025, at 11 am. Pallbearers will be grandsons Mit Cole, Drew Cole, Charlie Torjusen, Josh Baker, and Wil Brown and cousin Tim Dodge.
