Francis "Frank" O. Rains, Jr.

Francis Owen Rains, JR of Pascagoula, MS, passed away Friday morning January 22, 2021 while at his late home, Lighthouse Assisted Living, in Ocean Springs where he was cared for extremely well by a wonderful staff.

Frank was born to Francis Owen Rains, SR and Elizabeth Ormond Rains, May 10, 1937 in Princeton, NC. He graduated from Princeton High School. The Rains family moved to Pascagoula, MS and opened G E Sales and Service. Frank went on to attend the University of Mississippi and Samford University (formally Howard College in Birmingham AL). He graduated with a degree in pharmacy. He owned and operated Medical Arts Pharmacy in Pascagoula for over 55 years.

Dad, Pop, Grandpa, Grampster, Brother, Uncle Brother, Sonny, F.O. Rains Jr comma esquire, and at the parking valet & on game day "Dr. Rains" were only some of the monikers of our beloved patriarch. He was married to Marilyn Floyd Rains in 1959 until her death in 2018.  Together they raised four children. Tod Rains (Diane) of Pascagoula, Dr. Chris Rains (Wanda) of Ocean Springs, Lisa Rains of Pascagoula, and Lee Rains (Ken Baldwin) of Biloxi.

Frank loved life. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed his weekly game with close friends for over 50 years. Frank loved Ole Miss dearly and told his four kids they could go anywhere they wanted to attend college, but he was only paying if it was Ole Miss, LOL. Frank will be dearly missed; he served his community with pride. He was a member of the Rotary Club, served on M&M bank board of directors and was a member of First Methodist Church in Pascagoula. Frank was known to brag on his kids and especially the grandkids.  He never met a stranger, to say he was a talker is an understatement. His bigger than life personality made everyone in his life feel special.  He will be dearly missed by those that knew him.

Frank is survived by his four children and three grandchildren, Erin Elizabeth Rains of New York, NY, Kendall Rains of Los Angelos, CA and Anna Elizabeth Rains of Pascagoula, MS; one niece, Wendy Walker Martin of Ocean Springs; two nephews, Bo Smith (Delena) and Johnny Walker (Maria) all of Pascagoula and numerous cousins and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Francis Owen Rains, Sr, mother Elizabeth Ormond Rains, wife Marilyn Floyd Rains, twin sister Ann Rains Smith, and sister Susie Rains Houde.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled at a later time.
