Obituary

Francis E. (Gene) Bramlett, 71, passed away November 2, 2022, after a long battle with an autoimmune disease known as Myasthenia Gravis. Mr. Bramlett was born January 17, 1951 in Pascagoula, MS. He was a 1970 graduate of Pascagoula High School. After graduation, Mr. Bramlett served in the United States Marine Corps where he earned his gold Jump Wings; upon returning, he worked as a law enforcement officer for Moss Point Police Department and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office before moving to security at International Paper until shutdown. Mr. Bramlett then transferred to casino security at Beau Rivage where he worked until retirement. He was a member of American Legion. Mr. Bramlett took great pride in his country that he served so bravely. Mr. Bramlett is remembered fondly for his love for his family and his community. Though he worked graveyard shift, Mr. Bramlett volunteered as a coach and board member for his children’s many sports. Mr. Bramlett could be seen at every practice and game for his daughters. Though known as “Mean Gene” or “Mad Dawg,” Mr. Bramlett had an endearing soft side. Mr. Bramlett was Santa for several years at Singing River Mall. With Christmas being his favorite holiday and his snow-white beard, he was the real Santa. Many other things that Mr. Bramlett enjoyed was watching western and war era movies; anything with John Wayne was his favorite. A favorite memory by his daughters was the summer days at Martin’s Lake with his small boombox playing Beach Boys. Mr. Bramlett loved the Beach Boys and even played guitar in a small band growing up. Mr. Bramlett loved sports, and his favorite team was Ole Miss; he especially liked the Manning Family. Mr. Bramlett enjoyed getting to see two Mississippi teams win the College World Series. The thing that provided Mr. Bramlett the most happiness was his family. He doted on his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. His family brought him so much pride and love. Mr. Bramlett was preceded in death by his parents G.I and Mary Bramlett; grandparents G.I and Ellen Bramlett, Sr, and S.E and Bessie Spratley; brothers Grady Durwood Bramlett and William Bramlett; sister Louellen Bramlett; brother-in-law Mike Dunn. He is survived by his wife, Connie Lynn Bramlett, of 33 years; 4 daughters Candi (Zack) Dodson, Mandi (Chris) McLemore, Britni Bramlett, Traci (Mitch) Buchanan; 9 grandchildren James Savell III, Cheyenne Williams, Ryleigh Goff, Grace McLemore, Justice Goff, Felicity McLemore, Penelope Buchanan, Charlotte Buchanan, and Baby Girl Buchanan (due in January); brother Jimmy (Belynda) Bramlett and sister Lois Dunn and numerous nieces and nephews, family, and friends. Pallbearers are Mitch Buchanan, Blake Buchanan, Mike Dunn, Chris McLemore, Scott Capers, Tony Bramlett. Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Bramlett and Mike Beal, Veterans of Army and Navy, and who always participated in fun family shenanigans during Christmastime as to which branch of military was best.
