GEORGE MARVIN HALL 83, passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024.
Marvin was born in Rosedale, MS, April 24, 1941. He graduated from Rosedale High School May 26; 1960. He joined the United States Army and served honorably with the 409th “Blackhorse” radio communication unit during Vietnam, receiving a meritorious commendation for saving a command unit while under sniper fire during his service. He was honorably discharged as a SSGT in 1968. Later he built a website honoring the unit he served with. He worked for South Central Bell for 32 years before retiring. After retiring, he helped his brother with his business for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife Hazel Hall, his mother and father Pearlie Hall and Henry Hall, his brothers James and Thomas Crowley, John, Jack, and John Henry Hall.
He is survived by two sons Randy Golden (Tina) of Hurley, MS , Allen Hall, and a daughter, Glenda Hall both of Nashville, TN; a sister, Betty Davenport of Long Beach, MS; brother Robert Hall (Marie) of Biloxi, MS; 6 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
He spent his life loving and helping his family with his mechanical and construction knowledge and spent his last couple of years driving back and forth to Tennessee to help his son completely remodel his house and garage apartment. There was nothing too big for him to take on to help his family.
Visitation will be Friday, September 27, 2024 at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home from 10:00 am- 11:00am. The funeral will follow in the chapel at 11:00am. Interment will conclude services with military honors at Serene Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donation be made in his memory to the charity of your choice.
