Georgia Lynn Burley, age 79, passed away at The Landing of Panama City Beach on February 23, 2024.
Georgia will be remembered for her friendly, outgoing personality and a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed music, dancing and spending time with friends and family. She will also be remembered for her brave spirit and positive attitude as she battled with illness later in life.
She was born in Paris, Texas in 1944 and was the only child of George and Alice Blyberg. Both of her parents were in the military so Georgia experienced the life of a military family which enabled her to live in Spain as a teenager. Georgia graduated from Aurora Central High school in 1962 and then attended airlines training school where she realized she didn’t like to fly.
After high school, Georgia married Al Schaedler in Aurora, Colorado. Together they had Brett and Terry Schaedler. Later in life, Georgia married, Jerry Burley and became the step mother of two little girls, Missy and Stephanie. Jerry and Georgia had one daughter together, Jennifer Burley Peters.
Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, George and Alice Blyberg, husband Jerry Burley, Geneva Burley, Shirley Brandhorst, Gloria Easton and is survived by her children Jennifer (Steve) Peters, Brett (Denise) Schaedler, Terry Schaedler, Missy (Jimmy) Ridgeway, Stephanie (Brian) Kirby,
Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2024, at O’ Bryant – O’ Keefe Funeral Home Gautier from 10:30am – 11:30am with the service to follow at 11:30am. Internment will conclude at Biloxi National Cemetery at 1:30pm.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Vitas Hospice, especially Lindsay, Brenda, Gwen, Jackie and Tracie for the care and compassion they showed Georgia in her final weeks.
