Georgia Marie Adler

Georgia Marie Adler, age 77, of Galveston, Texas passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at her daughter’s home in Gautier, MS.   She was born March 17, 1948 in Houston, Texas to the late George Clifford Garrett and the late Johnnie Cleotha Hough Yates.  Georgia was the youngest daughter of 10 children and has reunited with all of them : Dorothy, James, Maybelle, William “Billy”, John David, Robert, Evelyn, Curtis, and an infant brother.

Georgia lived with an open heart and an unstoppable spirit. She found joy in the simplest moments and shared that joy freely with everyone around her. Her laughter was unmistakable—warm, full, and contagious—turning even ordinary days into something special.

She gave without hesitation, never measuring kindness by what she had but by what others needed. Whether it was a helping hand, a comforting word, or the last dollar in her pocket, she believed in showing up for people in whatever way she could. Her strength was quiet but unwavering, and the love she had for others was felt in a million little ways. She was lovingly called Uma, Granny, and GiGi by her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Georgia will be remembered for her comforting hugs and loving spirit that she shared with everyone around her.

She is deeply missed by David, her husband of 57 years; her daughter, Gwen and her husband, Robert; daughter, Rebecca and her husband, Michael; her two granddaughters, Katy and husband Curtis, Sara and husband Keith, her grandson, Caleb as well as seven great grandsons. 

In honor of her giving nature, the family requests that in lieu of flowers, please donate your time and pay an extra kindness to your own family, to a friend, or even to a stranger.  Laugh and love a little extra. 

Though she is no longer with us, her legacy of laughter, generosity, and love will echo in our hearts forever.
