Gerald H. "Jay" Baker, age 69, of Moss Point passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2018. In 1970 on a trip to help his parents move from Florida to Moss Point, MS Jay explored the area and decided to make Jackson County his home. He then continued many new adventures. Jay worked for Ingall's Shipbulding in the Engineering Department, Technical Publications. The favorite and most rewarding part of his job was riding the sea trial of many Navy ships built during his employment. Jay retired in 2010 after 39 years of employment with Ingalls.
Jay was honest, precise and full of knowledge. He was a mechanic and enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles.

Jay was a member of Pascagoula Elks Lodge 1120. He was a member of Southern Mopar Assn., Deep South Chapter of American Motorcycle Assn. and Pascagoula Shooting Club.

He loved the world of Mopar and all the friends he met along the way. He loved the world of Harley Davidson and his biker brothers, The Breakfast Bunch. Jay liked his motorcycles loud and his cars classic.

Jay was preceded in death by his father, Gerald D. Baker and his mother, Dotty Baker. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sharon Smith Baker, daughter, Katie Baker, one brother, William Brooks, Omaha, NE, a brother in law, Tommy Smith (Brenda), Pompano Beach, FL, nephew, Maxwell Church (Beth), Detroit, MI, niece, Carolyn Smith, Nashville, TN, other relatives and many friends. Pallbearers and Honorary Pallbearers will be The Breakfast Bunch.

Visitation for Jay will be held Saturday, July 28, 2018, 1:00-3:00PM at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral service will begin at 3:00PM in the chapel with burial to follow at Machpelah Cemetery.
