Harriet Taylor Wilkinson Obituary

Harriet Lee Taylor Wilkinson, passed away on  Monday, December 25, 2023  in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 71.

Harriet was born in Pascagoula, MS on September 10, 1952 the third child born to Iris Broadus Taylor and David Thomas Taylor. She grew up in the close knit community of Orange Grove. They were so close it was difficult to differentiate between relatives and friends.  Living next door only provided an even greater sense of security and confidence. The constant through her childhood in this extended family unit was love, and there was plenty for everyone.

She attended Orange Lake Elementary School, Ed Mayo Jr High and Moss Point High School. She often reflected fondly of the many lifelong friends she met during her school years. She furthered her career at Perkinston Jr College and MGCCC, receiving a degree in nursing. She served in her chosen vocation at Singing River Hospital, Pulmonary Home Health and finally as a School Nurse before retiring.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by grandparents, Harriet Elizabeth Dement Broadus, Gordie Roe Broadus, Sabra Smith Taylor and Marvelle Taylor; and an infant brother, David Thomas Taylor Jr.

She is survived by two sons, Seth Taylor Randle (Callie) and Parker Stephen Wilkinson; siblings, Sandra Ann Taylor Winsett (David) and Lana Sue Taylor; grandchildren, Olivia Price Randle and Rhodes Taylor Randle; niece and nephew, David Anderson “Andy” Winsett and Iris Elizabeth Sally (Joseph) and great niece and nephews, Devin Winsett, Taylor Sally and Thomas Sally; and many friends.

In her handwriting she penned the following; In looking back I realize how blessed my life has been with close friends, family and the love of my children. Blessed with remarkable health until the last few years, my faith in God has brought me comfort each day. My sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren have provided my personal needs above and beyond measure. As a child I asked my father what do I pray when I don’t know what to pray? His response, was “Thank You God” and that is enough. In later years I would find this quote by Meister Eckhart “I thank you “is the only prayer you can utter in your lifetime that would be enough. So, today I say thank you from the bottom of my heart.
