Henry “Bragg” Moore III, age 73, of Pascagoula peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, January 24, 2025, at his home.
He was born July 17, 1951, in Pascagoula to Henry “H.B.” Moore, Jr. and Gloria Grant Moore. Bragg was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula and parishioner of Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. He was a 1969 graduate of OLV and went on to attend Mississippi State University where he earned a degree in education.
After a decade as a teacher and coach at OLV High School, Moore was appointed the first Director of Youth Ministry for the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi. During his 30 years as Youth Director, Moore led countless numbers of teenagers on prayer days, parish retreats, SEARCH retreats, national youth conferences, March for Life trips, ND Vision weeks, service projects, and diocesan mission trips to Saltillo, Mexico. During his years of service, Bragg received many accolades and awards. These include the Father Patrick Quinn Award for faith, leadership, and service to others. He was also awarded the University of Notre Dame Sorin Award for his continued support of Catholic Education. He will be remembered for his lasting impact in the field of youth ministry, both in South Mississippi and across the country. Bragg leaves behind a legacy of compassion and a devotion to mentoring teens and young adults, as evidenced by the Bragg Moore Scholarship Fund at Resurrection Catholic School.
Bragg is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by Linda, his wife of 51 years; their two children Kiley (Jeff) Leonard of Bowling Green, KY and Matthew Bragg Moore of Sanford, FL; and his three grandsons Jacob, John Paul, and Luke Leonard, all of Bowling Green. He is survived by his four siblings - Rita (Jim) Martin, Kathleen (Eddie) Williams, Kenny (Sue Ellen) Moore, all of Pascagoula, and Michael (Kathy) Moore of Garland, TX. He also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, and Godchildren.
The family would like to thank all of the health care providers from Singing River Hospital and Hospice of Light who treated Bragg with such love and respect.
Pallbearers include Jarrett Williams, John Moore, Gage Miller, Grant Moore, Zach Moore, and Jeff Leonard.
