Hiram Dodd Gregory

Hiram Dodd “Red” Gregory, the last of the Gregory brothers, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2023 in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 85.

Dodd was born Jun 15, 1938 in Leland, MS to Thomas Jefferson Gregory and Nadine Leola Bennett Gregory.  On his 5th birthday he received a present of a baby sister, Barbara. He took this as a personal gift, keeping her on a pedestal and her personal defender and protector along with his other three brothers. He served in the United States Navy. For most of his life Dodd worked as a truck driver just him and the open road which suited him perfectly. He was loving, caring and enjoyed being around people but also enjoyed  peace and solitude.

In addition to his parents, Dodd is preceded in death by his son; Todd Gregory; siblings, Thedford “Ted” Gregory, Willard “Chuck” Gregory, Maurice Gregory, infant sister, Gwendolyn Gregory; half-sister, Wanda Ables; niece, Ann Jackson; nephews, Mike Goff, Barry Gregory, and Garry Gregory.

He is survived by his sister and friend, Barbara Gregory Jackson; sister-in-law. Lesa Veirling; half-siblings, Thomas Gregory, Douglas Gregory and JoAnn Hunt; special cousins H.C. Phillipson and Larry and Ginger Phillipson who always had a room for him and time to care; nieces and nephews, Robert Cohen, Joseph Gregory, Dawn Bayley, Susan Monroe, Kerrie Crawford, Sabine Quell, Sandra Struwe, Stephanie Bradley, Maurice “Greg” Gregory Jr., Gwen White, Darryl Jackson, Sonya Brushaber, Lynn Russell, Scott Jackson, and Tommy Jackson and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be Monday August 28, 2023 at O’Bryant- O’Keefe Funeral Home from 10:00-10:30am. Memorial service will follow at 10:30am with Rev Mike White officiating. A Graveside service with Military Honors will conclude at Biloxi National Cemetery at 12:30 pm.  Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com
