James C. Thornhill

James Clifton Thornhill I. passed away on Thursday, April 8, 2021 at his home in Moss Point, MS

James was born on August 28, 1924 in Morgantown, MS to Charlie and Betty Mae Thornhill. He served his country with pride and dignity serving in the United States Navy.  After serving in the USN he went to work in 1954 at Ingalls Shipbuilding as a welder, and remained there for 47 years.  He loved to hunt with bird dogs and gardening. He was happiest when he was outside working in the yard or farming.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Jo W. Thornhill in 1991 and Mary Moody Thornhill in 2019; a son, James C. Thornhill II and grandson, Jeffrey James Thornhill both in 2018.

He is survived by, a son, Jeffrey F. Thornhill of Erwin, TN; daughter-in-law, Terry A Thornhill of Pascagoula, MS; three grandchildren, Kristina Jo Thornhill Longworth (Josh) of Erwin, TN, Julie Marie Thornhill of Moss Point, MS and Jason Thornhill (Carla) of Waveland, MS; 8 great grandchildren, 4 great- great grandchildren and one due in September 2021.

Visitation for Mr. Thornhill will be Monday, April 12, 2021 at Holly Springs Baptist Church in Foxworth, MS from 11am -12noon with funeral service to follow. Interment will conclude at the church cemetery. Condolences may be expressed online at www.obryantokeefe.com
