James M. Epting, Jr. passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 in Pascagoula, MS at the age of 83.
Jim, as he was known, was born to James M. Epting, Sr. and Hattie Bell Epting in Pascagoula, MS on November 4, 1938. He was a Pascagoula High School graduate and furthered his education at Perkinston Junior College and the University of Mississippi, receiving degrees in Civil Engineering and Business. He retired from Chevron as the Director of Public Relations. Jim was very involved in the community; a member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula, coaching city park commission youth football and basketball, a member of several local carnival clubs, active member for Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, the Jaycees, Rotary Club, and Salvation Army. Jim served on the Board of Trustees for Singing River Health Systems and the Board of Trustees for the Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, as well as the Ole Miss Business School Advisory Board. Jim was active in many other community volunteer organizations.
He was preceded in death by his parents and survived by his wife of 64 years, Linda Smith Epting of Pascagoula, MS; three daughters, Kim Phillips of Oxford, MS, Leigh Ann Goff (Stacey) of Monroe, LA, Alison Ainsworth (Kyle) of Madison, MS; four grandchildren, James Pittman Phillips, Margaret Ellis Goff, Mamie Ainsworth and Nolan Ainsworth, and a multitude of friends.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 13, 2022 from 2-3pm at First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula with service to follow at 3pm. Private interment will follow. Serving as pallbearers will be Kyle Ainsworth, Stacey Goff, Pittman Phillips, Nolan Ainsworth, Dr Randy Roth, Brett Williams, Dr. Clinton Hull and Dr. Steve Demetropoulos.
