Janet E. DeForrest passed away at her home in Pascagoula, MS on Friday, January 3, 2025 at the age of 92.
Janet was born May 9, 1932 in Pascagoula, MS to Alley and Stella Walker. She was a lifelong resident of Pascagoula and Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church and served on the church Altar Society. She was appointed to the Pascagoula Recreation Commission in 1970, where she facilitated in the building of Pine Street Park.
She often spoke of how much she loved and enjoyed every minute of raising her children. Even when she had to occasionally throw a shoe at them her family was one of her greatest joy’s.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack L. DeForrest, a son, Steven DeForrest and a brother, Alfred “Hap’ Walker; daughter-in-law, Kim DeForrest.
She is survived by six children; Linda E. Marshall (Greg) of Hurley, Jackie E. Skelton (Kevin) of Pascagoula, Jerry J. DeForrest of Brandon, Helen Fortenberry of Ocean Springs, Patty M. Dale of Pascagoula and David H. DeForrest (Gloria)of San Diego, CA ; daughter-in-law, Ronda DeForrest of Pascagoula; 13 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. from 11am-12pm with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at noon. Interment will conclude at Jackson County Memorial Park.
The family would like to especially thank, Vital Caring Hospice and Tendercare Sitters for their excellent care, support, respect and guidance throughout her transition. You made a difficult time much more bearable.
