Jeannie Jones Lee Obituary

Hazel Jean “Jeannie” Lee, 81, of Gautier passed away peacefully on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025 with her son, Tom and daughter, Terrie holding her hands.

Jeannie graduated from Pascagoula High School and then went to college to receive her Nursing license. She was a nurse for Singing River Hospital for over 50 years and retired in 2005.  Everyone that met her, knew she had a heart of gold as evident in her entire life.  She was lovingly known by her co-workers and patients as the “General Lee” because of her tough nursing behaviors.  Her skills motivated the patients after surgery to get up and move around which resulted in quicker healing and better results. Many would agree that she was the toughest nurse there but she was motivated by the love she had for their well-being and recovery.

She was a life-long member of First Baptist Church in Gautier and member of JOY Sunday School class.  She loved her church family and especially the ladies of her class.  Their love and friendship helped in a tremendous way.

Jeannie’s family was her world and the void she leaves behind will be a hard adjustment.  Her family would encourage you to hug and love your family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Joel E. Jones and Hazel R. Jones; three brothers and two sisters, Robert “Bob” Jones, Joel Jones, James “Buddy” Jones, JoAnn Griffin, and Janis Green.

Jeannie is survived by her husband of over 57 years, Henry E. Lee, Gautier; daughter, Terrie Butler (Brandon), Alabaster, AL; sons, Thomas “Tom” E. Lee (Asa) of Sweden; Tim Lee, Gulfport; grandchildren, Noah and Andrew Butler; Stella Lee; Kaitlin Lee, Ryan Lee (Elaine), Taylar and Brayden Lee, Elizabeth Wooten, Megan Ford, Brett Page, Sara Lee Graham, Emily Shadeed, Jason Hart; numerous great grandchildren; two very special friends whom she cherished , Barbara Haygood and Sharon Marks.

Family would like to express their appreciation to Plaza Nursing Home for the love and kindness shown to Jeannie and her husband, Henry over the past several months.

Visitation will be Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, 11:00-12 noon, at First Baptist Church in Gautier.  Funeral Service will begin at 12 noon with Rev. Chad Ball officiating.  The Ladies of JOY Sunday School class will be the Honorary Pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jeannie Lee’s memory to her church, First Baptist Church in Gautier.   You may send condolences to her family or share a Memory of Jeannie on the Tribute Wall.
