Jerry Lynn Deen was born February 22, 1962. She made the transition from this life to the next on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the age of 61.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Don Deen; mother, Geraldine Gossett and two sisters, Karen Deen and Tanya Sellers.
She is survived by brothers, Michael Sellers, Tommy Sellers and family; special sister-in-law, Samantha Sellers; special friend, Melissa Hester; stepdad, Roy Gossett and a devoted aunt, Linda Mayes Whatley.
What can be said about this special little lady, petite in statue with a huge heart, huge smile, lived life large and loved big. She worked primarily with her dad as a cook’s helper at Edd’s Drive In when he owned and operated the business. They could be described as two peas in a pod. And she and her sister, Tanya were close as could be until Tanya’s death.
Lynn loved the beach, animals, and traveling. Despite life’s obstacles, death of her closest family, sickness and disease, she lived a rich and full life filled with excitement and fun. Her drive and zest to live independently was abundantly apparent when she lost her sight in 2011. She was able to function just as well without her sight living independently, requiring minimal help.
God placed in her life people who loved her unconditionally, the Hubert and Lorene Copeland family as special longtime friends. Samantha, her sister-in -law, ever faithful and always there when she needed her. Melissa Hester her bestie forever friend who knowing her love for travel included her on all of their family vacations, expecting nothing in return. Linda Mayes Whatley, her aunt, her rock and guardian angel. These ladies always had Lynn’s back and each of them were blessed by Lynn. Her infectious laughter, joy and excitement for life, overflowed to all who knew her.
Funeral Service will be held Friday, January 19, 2024 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home at 11:00 am with Chaplain Loren Robinson officiating. There will be a one-hour visitation prior to service. Interment will conclude at Machpelah Cemetery in Pascagoula.
Special thanks to Hospice of Light and the Home Health Caregivers. Your attention to detail and sincere compassion and care, comforted her allowing her to remain at home her last days and weeks, which was Lynn’s final request. Condolences and memories may be shared online at www.obryantokeefe.com
