Jimmy "Jim" Deakle

Jim L. Deakle, 90, of Pascagoula, Mississippi, passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026.

Born in Beaumont, Mississippi, on September 17, 1935, Jim built a life defined by honor, athletic talent, public service, and devotion to his faith and family. He graduated from Lucedale High School in 1954, where his skill on the field earned him football scholarships to the University of Tennessee and Delta State University. He later earned a Master’s Degree from Mississippi State University. Jim served his community with distinction as a United States Federal Probation and Parole Officer. To those who knew him, he was the embodiment of dependability, trustworthiness, loyalty, and friendliness.

On June 5, 1959, Jim married the love of his life, Mary Jean, with whom he shared a beautiful life and family.

An avid outdoorsman and skilled in woodworking, Jim found great satisfaction in working with his hands and enjoying a good cigar. His faith was a central pillar of his life, demonstrated through his dedicated, lifelong service to the First Baptist Church of Gautier.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Jean Deakle; his parents, Lenson and Lottie Deakle; his brothers, Dick (Opal) Deakle, Jack (Gladys) Deakle, and Billy Ray (Janis) Deakle; his sister, Syble (Bud) Kruppenbach; and his brother-in-law, Mickey Hawkins.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Hawkins; his sons, Mark Deakle (Paula) and Jeff Deakle (Judene). He leaves behind a proud legacy through his grandchildren, Kaleb, Mason, Renny, Austin, Michelle (Ryan), and Robert (Suzzette), as well as six great-grandchildren.

A service to honor and celebrate Jim's life will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at the First Baptist Church of Gautier. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place immediately following the service behind the church at Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier.
