Jo-Ann McTaggart, age 69, of Gautier, passed away on Thursday morning, June 15, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born February 19, 1954, in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, Canada, and has been a resident of Gautier since 1984.
Jo-Ann most recently worked part-time at New York Pizza, which she greatly enjoyed. For eight years, she was a member of the Child Nutrition department with the Pascagoula-Gautier School District and for over twenty years at Keesler Air Force Base as a marina manager. She was also a member of the Gautier American Legion, Krewe of Niord, Krewe of Kirkos,and the Dixie Dazzlers. Jo-Ann loved lounging and laughing in her pool, Mardi Gras, everything outdoors, and camping.She had the best sense of humor and was often a jokester. She was a devoted friend and always available for a good chat. Our Jo-Ann will be truly and deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate to know her. She will be forever etched on our hearts.
She has reunited with her husband of 37 years, Barry John McTaggart; grandson, Johnathan Hoover; parents, Robert and Pat Spear; niece, Jessica Torres; and nephew, Dax McTaggart.
Jo-Ann leaves her three sons and one daughter to cherish her memory; Chris Hoover, Sr (Vicky), Gautier; Matt Hoover, Fort Lauderdale, FL; Barry McTaggart, Jr. (Rachel), Pascagoula; Erin Marks (Danny) Pascagoula; two brothers, Bob Spear (Lucille), California and Richard Spear (Anke), Germany; 10 grandchildren; Christopher Jr, Dalton, Kaitlyn, Nicolas, Whitney, Ezra, Owen, Luke, and Wade; three great-grandchildren, Michael, Kooper, and Weslynn, and her sweet pup, Marmalade.
Visitation will be at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula, MS, on June 24, 2023, from 9:00-10:00 followed by a service in the chapel at 10:00. Interment will be at the Pinecrest Cemetery in Gautier, MS following the service. Memorials may be made in her memory to the Johnathan Hoover Scholarship Fund at Hancock-Whitney Bank.
