JoAnn Lindsey, age 89, formerly of Gautier, MS, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 1, 2024, at her Tunica, Mississippi home. She was born July 29, 1935, in Birmingham, Alabama, as the only child of the late Edna Louise Hall and Truman McKenzie Bland. She graduated from Phillips High School in Birmingham, AL, and attended Auburn University, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity.
JoAnn was a resident of Jackson County Mississippi from 1968 until she moved to Tunica, MS, during Covid in 2020. JoAnn married Bob Lindsey in 1972. They were very active members of the Jackson County Bowlers Association; JoAnn served as the Queen of the Bowlers Ball in 1981. They enjoyed entertaining and traveling with their family and friends, and Carnival Season. JoAnn and Bob loved to dance, and people enjoyed watching them dance.
JoAnn was an executive secretary at Mississippi Chemical Corporation and Ingalls Shipbuilding. She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 1992 in Gautier. She will be remembered for her loving spirit and the joy she carried into every room she entered.
She is preceded in death by her husband, W. A. “Bob” Lindsey.
JoAnn is survived by her four daughters, Cherie Owen (Sterling), Tunica, MS; Lea Johnson (Flemming), High Point, NC; Pamela Lusicic, Gautier, MS; Lisa Lindsey, Grand Bay, AL; four grandsons, Bradley Johnson, Wesley Johnson (Heather), Giannino Lusicic; Jonathan Lindsey; five great-grandchildren, Ava, Harper, Chambley, Hudson, and Haddon Johnson.
Visitation will be Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024, 12:00-1:00pm at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 1:00pm with her grandson, Rev. Wesley Johnson, officiating. Entombment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park in Pascagoula. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 1992 in Gautier, MS, Tunica United Methodist Church, Tunica, MS, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
