Jo Ann Surian Windham, 83, passed away August 12, 2024, in Jacksonville, FL where she resided with her daughter. Jo Ann was born December 10, 1940 in Biloxi, MS to Audrey Surian and Nicholas Surian. She was a 1959 graduate of Biloxi High, a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 151, and a member of The Slavonian Lodge and French Club. She retired from Corso’s and Jackson County Chancery Clerk’s Office.
As a child, JoAnn loved spending time at the beach and swimming to Deer Island. She enjoyed traveling, cooking, watching college football and Major League Baseball, going to the Slavonian Lodge and French Club and having lunch with her friends, but what she loved most was spending time with family and adored her grand and great grandchildren.
Jo Ann is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Pearl Windham, a daughter, Dana Scott; a son, Rick Windham; granddaughter, Jessica Windham; and her adoptive mother and maternal grandmother, Edith Ryan. She is survived by her daughter, Timmie Ann Byrd (Wes) of Jacksonville, FL; brother Nick Surian (Carolyn) of Biloxi; MS, Danny Surian of D’Iberville, MS; and sister Toni Jones (Craig) of Ocean Springs, MS. Her four granddaughters, Ryan Byrd Coates (Brad) of Colorado Springs, CO; Chelsey Hawes Fiedler (Jeremy) of Theodore, AL; Arrealle Windham Burton (Cody) of Seattle, WA and Taylor Elizabeth Byrd of Jacksonville, FL. Additionally, she is survived by six great grandchildren, Luke, Liam, Ryley and Logan Coates, Mac Fiedler and Noah Burton, a son-in-law, Raymond Scott and daughter-in-law, Karen Windham both of Pascagoula, MS. As well as several nieces, nephews and cousins that loved her dearly.
