John Edward Johnson

John Edward Johnson GSCS (SW/MTS) USN Retired, passed away on Monday February 20, 2023 in Pascagoula, MS.

John was born in Wheeling, WV on February 4, 1946 to Clifford and Dorothy Johnson. He served 3 tours in Vietnam and traveled the world before retiring from the US Navy after 26 years of service. He was a lifetime member of VFW Pascagoula, MS and Past Grand Knight (KOC) Council #12166. He loved reading, and was a history buff, particularly military history, collecting toy cars and building model ships. He was a longtime member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife of 35 years, Ginger Johnson; children, Dawn Gilbert, James Janney Jr., Jane Gilbert, John Janney, Jonathan Johnson (Victoria), Bill Johnson, Julie Cox (Greg) and Olivia Boone (Kevin); a sister, Doryce Aguirre; 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and one soon to arrive; a host of nieces, nephews and many other relatives and friends.

 Rosary will be at 9:30am Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with visitation to follow from 10am – 11am. Memorial Mass will be at 11am and interment will conclude at Biloxi National Cemetery with full military honors at 1:30pm.
