John Frederick "Fred" Ros Obituary

John Frederick “Fred” Ros, age 73, of Gautier passed away on Monday morning, March 23, 2026 surrounded by his family at his home in Gautier.

He was born February 7, 1953 in Pascagoula to Pol Mikel Ros, Jr and Eva Voncile Livaudais Ros.  Fred graduated in May of 1971 from Pascagoula High School then proudly served in U.S. Army from October of 1972 until receiving his honorable discharge in October of 1976.  Fred retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding in 2017 after employment in the building material department, insurance sales, management, and sheet metal and machine operator.

Fred was an active member, Deacon, Sunday School member, choir member, and Watch Care Team of First Baptist Church in Gautier. Even in his hardest of days with his health, he continued to reach out to other church members to check on them and pray for their needs.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and singing karaoke with friends. Whether outdoors in the quiet of nature of behind a microphone sharing a song, he brought joy and connection to those around him.

Fred fought a strong and courageous battle while awaiting a liver transplant. His determination, faith, and unwavering spirit remained evident throughout his journey.  He will be remembered for his deep sense of community, patriotism, warm heart, easy laugh, and sincere love he gave to everyone.

He is preceded in death by his parents; infant sister, Mary Ros; sister, Linda M. Ros Savell; Grandparents, Pol M. Ros, Sr, Velma Olsen Ros, Alan Livaudais, and Nina Isora Livaudais.

He is survived by the love of his life and wife of 45 years, Marjorie M. Ros, Gautier; daughter, Nicole E. Ros (Jason Welford), Dauphin Island; step-daughter, Heather Williams Black (Chris), Brandon, MS; step-son, Jason H. Williams (Sonya), Barton, MS; brother, Charles Mikel Ros (Susan), Prattville, MS; four grandchildren, Devin, Tori, Jenna Black and Grace Williams Davis (Gage); great-granddaughter, Rosemary Davis; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, great friends, and loving church family.
