Jonathan George Obituary

Jonathan Cleveland George, a vibrant soul, passed away suddenly on May 24, 2023, doing what he loved at the age of 33. He was a loving and proud father of two precious girls, a devoted husband, son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and beloved friend to many. Born and raised in the Northern Neck of Virginia, he was proud to be from Goat Island. A 2007 graduate of Lancaster High School, he excelled in Baseball and was often featured in the local paper. After high school, he started his own lawn care business and worked for a local dock builder.

Leaving everyone that adored him heartbroken but full of everlasting memories of his unique character, Jonathan’s personality was huge and full of light, including his heart. His smile was a light in the darkness, and his laugh was contagious. He never met a stranger and was sure to turn any frown upside down. Jonathan was always the first one on the dance floor; even when there wasn’t one, he was sure to create one. And when you saw Jonathan, you saw the love of his life, Autumn, right there with him.

Their love story began in their late teens; the only thing he loved more than Goat Island was Autumn, which he proclaimed during his proposal to her in 2011, and in 2015, they had a Las Vegas wedding that was ever so fitting to their bond.

For a better foundation, Jonathan worked passionately to accomplish his dream of becoming a spotter pilot for the Menhaden Fishing Industry. For a new beginning and better opportunities, Jonathan and Autumn moved from the Northern Neck to Ocean Springs, Mississippi, in 2017.

But the biggest accomplishment of their relationship was becoming parents in 2018 to their first daughter, Logan Ashleigh, and in 2022, Avery Blaire. Autumn and the girls were Jonathan’s pride and joy. Jonathan “J Money” or “Cleve” had many friends and essentially lived two lives. He had his Northern Neck life, where his roots ran deep, and a life in Mississippi that he and Autumn created on their own. He enjoyed being the life of the party, golfing with his buddies, and spending time on the water. Whatever he was doing, he did it with humor, and there was never a dull moment when he was around. Finding the best shad to set on for the boats was Jonathan’s passion. Ask anyone around, and “Oh yeah, 100%!” He was the man!

His final moments were spent in the air with the beautiful view of God’s creation underneath him. Jonathan will continue to fly high, being a guardian angel to all of those who were blessed to be in his life.

Jonathan leaves behind his wife, Autumn, their daughters, Logan and Avery; parents, Kenny and Sheri George; brother, Kody; mother-in-law, Bonnie Ainsworth; sister-in-law, Melinda Hopkins; maternal grandmother, Jackie Hinson; his extended family, numerous friends and his loyal pup, Pogie. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Cleveland Hinson, and paternal grandparents, Frank and Elda George.
