Kenneth Barkley Robertson passed away at his home on Saturday, July 27, 2024 surrounded by family.
Kenneth was born in Stateline, MS on March 13, 1939, and grew up in Pascagoula. He graduated from Pascagoula High School in 1957, Millsaps College in 1961 and Ole Miss School of Law (LLD) in 1963. While in private practice, he served as the first appointed public defender for the State of Mississippi and as a State Senator for 6 years. He went on to serve as Chancery Judge for Jackson, George, and Greene Counties for 27 years. Several of these years included serving as Chairman of the State Judicial Advisory Board. He was a 33 Degree Mason, Honorary York Rites, Shriner, and a member of First United Methodist Church of Pascagoula.
He loved his state of Mississippi and spent a lifetime serving and helping others.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Leslie Robertson, Jr. and his adoptive family, Walter and Helen Robertson, Douglas and Betty Jo (Tillman).
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Fay Prevost Robertson; his daughter, Leslie Fay Robertson Heard and son-in-law, Paul, of Ocean Springs; his three grandchildren, Kenneth Patrick “Patch” Heard, Nathan Paul Heard and Clayton Parker Heard; his sisters-in-law, Delores Prevost Early and Ginger Prevost Vervaeke (Tom); his sister, Robbie Leslie Pinkerton (Frank) of Tennessee.
Serving as pallbearers will be Paul Heard, Patch Heard, Nathan Heard, Clayton Heard, Tom Vervaeke, and Chesley Vervaeke.
Visitation will be Friday, August 2, 2024 at O’Bryant-O’Keefe Funeral Home in Pascagoula from 6:00pm-8:00pm. Funeral Service will be on Saturday, August 3, 2024 at 11:00am at the First United Methodist Church in Pascagoula with Rev, Eddie Kirby officiating. Entombment will conclude at Machpelah Cemetery.
